Next Level Key Management System realized by Cryptomathic and Craftspire partnership
Cryptomathic, a Danish company specializing in cryptographic solutions, has partnered with Craftspire, to enable the transformation of their new key management products from traditional client–server applications to a unified, modernized, and web-based experience.
The new product, CrystalKey 360, offers superior and intuitive key life cycle management functionality as well as empowering organisations to achieve state of the art cryptographic agility for their applications.

Goal: Modern Web Application
Cryptomathic set out an ambitious goal of modernizing its existing key management suite with ease of use and flexibility as key drivers. While Cryptomathic was focused on providing a modern API first developer experience for key management and cryptographic services, it needed a competent partner to help build the new user experience for users of the system.
Building the new user experience would require close collaboration with geographically distributed product and development teams to understand the existing workflows and design the new UX/UI as well as a robust architecture for the new web based front end, that would allow Cryptomathic to grow the feature set as the product evolves.
To achieve this ambitious goal, Cryptomathic selected Craftspire not only to help gather requirements, design the UX/UI and propose the architecture, but also to manage the entire implementation process in collaboration with the Cryptomathic team. An additional challenge was working with a product development team spread across locations, including Canada and Europe, which required special attention in gathering requirements and organizing workshops.

1. Effective Requirements Gathering
Craftspire organized a series of effective online workshops to quickly gather the vision and key requirements from all stakeholders. This provided a solid foundation that allowed Craftspire to efficiently gather and prioritize requirements using techniques such as brainstorming, user story mapping, business-level event storming, roadmap development, and user persona creation.
2. Rapid Prototyping and Iterative Development
A rapid prototyping approach and the creation of lo-fi prototypes and wireframes were used to quickly test and optimize solutions. Once the interactive prototypes were approved, hi-fi mockups were developed in Figma, allowing a thorough analysis of the application's appearance and functionality.
3.Designing and implementing a Modern Web Application
Craftspire designed the front-end architecture and developed a modern web application that meets the needs of both novice and expert users. The application is intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and offers advanced configuration capabilities.
The development utilized React for the user interface, integrating the MUI framework and Redux Toolkit (RTK) for efficient state management.
Craftspire succeeded in transferring existing dual control concepts from the previous administrative client GUI applications to a flexible two–step change and approve system, that allows administrators to easily review configuration changes before approving them.
4.Visual identity
Craftspire worked diligently with Cryptomathic’s visual identity to deploy iconography and colour schemes into an aesthetically pleasing, intuitive, and functional interface.
